Iris Louka

Iris was born in Athens in 1972. She studied violin and viola in Athens Conservatory and in Vienna Conservatory. She studied Musicology in National Kapodistrian University in Athens and continued her studies in Ionian University receiving a Master’s Degree in 2014 in Music Performance-Viola. She is now a PhD candidate in the same University in the solo pieces for violin and cello (suites – sonatas – partitas) by J. S. Bach. She is a permanent member of Athens State Orchestra. She has also written and directed for this Orchestra the Performances-pieces “Viola Power” (2013 – the history of the instrument for 11 violas and an actor/singer) and “Pesto Presto me Maestro-Say it Fast with a Conductor!” (2017 – the history of symphonic orchestra in 1 hour for orchestra and 2 actors). She also has a significant presence in Greek Music as a violinist, lyricist and songwriter. The CD “the smile on the screwdriver” is her first personal music statement.
